DROWNING POOL To Guest On SyncLive.com Next Week
January 23, 2008DROWNING POOL will be featured in an exclusive interview on SyncLive.com on January 30 at 6:00 p.m. EST. The Dallas-based band will be performing later that evening with rock band SALIVA at the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach, FL.
DROWNING POOL recently had its gear stolen for the second time in a month. The group initially had a break-in at its rehearsal space in north Dallas the day before Thanksgiving, prompting them to move their equipment to a public storage facility just a block away. But exactly one month later, the band was robbed again. While the Thanksgiving burglary cost them several amps and other equipment, the Christmas theft was more extensive. The band lost two speaker cabinets, four bass guitars, two custom amplifiers, one drum kit and other equipment.
Drummer Mike Luce said, "We always joke that DROWNING POOL has a black cloud that follows us," while guitarist C.J. Pierce added, "Money doesn't grow on trees. We're now with our third singer, and we're just getting by as it is. Who has the money to go out and buy all this gear? It's a lot of gear, and it costs a lot of money."
Cameras caught the thieves the first time around, but there was no surveillance equipment at the second storage space. The band has moved its remaining gear to a third, undisclosed location.
DROWNING POOL lost its first singer, Dave Williams, to heart disease in 2002, and parted with a second vocalist and a record label while attempting its first comeback two years later.
More recently, bassist Stevie Benton was diagnosed in December with a neurological disorder called Bell's Palsy, which causes paralysis of the face and occasional sensitivity to sound. The group had to cancel the rest of its immediate tour dates so that Benton could recover.
DROWNING POOL has been on the road in support of its third album, "Full Circle", which marks the recording debut of current frontman Ryan McCombs.
